Spending time in an RV can be a great experience. You can travel the world, meet up with your family, and have a good adventure. Many individuals, couples, and families decide to spend some time in an RV during the summer, and when they do travel, they want to bring along their dog as well. 

While most RV parks do allow dogs to come along and play, many will have some restrictions based on the dog breed. So, what dog breeds are typically not allowed in RV parks?

• Some breeds are more intimidating than others: There are a few dog breeds that have been bred to be more responsive to some of the different changes in the environment. They can also react more aggressively. This can be dangerous to some of the guests in the area, especially with all the kids running around. Your dog individually may not be a problem, but since the owners of the RV park don’t know your dog, they put a restriction on all of that breed to be safe. 

There are still some options out there if you do have a dog that fits into this restricted breed issue. You can talk with the RV park manager and see whether they hold fast to some of these rules or if they are willing to make an exception. 

State and national parks often allow all dogs to come, so that can be a good alternative. And even being on BLM land will work for a lot of families. 

Traveling Safely with Your Dog to RV Parks

While some of the rules in place about dog breeds in RV parks can seem restrictive and it can be frustrating to find a place for your dog to go if you travel, this is often done for the safety of yourself and those around you. 

Most of the dog breeds that are not allowed in RV parks are more aggressive, and those who run the RV park worry about someone getting hurt. 

Looking at some other options for RV camping may be the best solution for you to still get out this summer and enjoy the open road with your dog.
